As a Community Manager at Mindspace Wynwood coworking space, I can tell you that if you enjoy the vibrant energy of Mindspace, you’ll surely enjoy the following recommendations of fun things to do in and around Wynwood.
Best Restaurants in Wynwood
Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink
Situated in the heart of the famous Design District, Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink has been a staple and pioneer in this area. Outside of the phenomenal hospitality, they serve some of the most delicious seasonal items. Whether you’re going to dinner, a happy hour, or brunch, I promise you will not be disappointed.
Negroni Bistro & Sushi Bar
Negroni Bistro & Sushi Bar is located in Midtown Miami, just across the street from our coworking location Mindspace Wynwood. Perfect for an after work happy hour – it’s a quick walk. They serve many different specials, as well as host a live DJ on certain days.
Zak The Baker
A must have when visiting the Wynwood neighborhood is Zak The Baker! Kosher, fresh, and irresistible, all of their pastries and menu items are made with love. Whether you stop by on your way to Mindspace or go for lunch, I assure you that you’ll fall in love.
Beaker & Gray
As long as I can remember Beaker & Gray has been a fine dining gem in Wynwood. Located on the outskirts of Wynwood, they’ve been recognized as one of the best restaurants and craft cocktail bars in the neighborhood – and I couldn’t agree more.
Pastis
If you’re familiar with the New York or Washington DC restaurant scene, then you may have already heard of Pastis. This French restaurant has made its way to Miami, and opened in the heart of Wynwood. A great setting for a professional lunch or dinner, your guests will be thoroughly impressed to dine here.
Doya
Another great spot for professional lunches and dinners, Doya brings a refined Mediterranean flair to Wynwood. The dishes are meant to share and allow for an intimate dining experience. With a Michelen star and impeccable service, you’re in for a treat.
Wynwood Street Art and Galleries
It’s impossible to mention Wynwood without mentioning art, and especially street art!
Wynwood Walls
Since its inception in 2009, Wynwood has been home to numerous art galleries and street murals – the most famous being the Wynwood Walls. The Wynwood Walls are open daily from 11AM to 7PM from Sunday to Thursday, and until 8PM on Friday and Saturday. This street art museum exhibits carefully curated art pieces, sculptures and, of course, painted murals – inspiring with their bright colors and impactful messaging.
Wynwood Art District Neighborhood Murals
After exploring the Wynwood Walls, make sure you continue walking the entire neighborhood. Many different murals and art galleries are scattered throughout to give your brain and soul a creativity boost.
And don’t forget to visit the area during Miami Art Basel! From satellite art fairs to exclusive exhibits of contemporary art, there’s something for every art lover. Head over here for more ideas on what to do in Miami During Art Basel 2023.
Best Places to Shop in Wynwood
If you’re having a stressful day at work, and you’re in need of some retail therapy, do not worry. Mindspace Wynwood is located in the perfect location for a quick lunch break or after work shopping trip.
Miami Design District
Let’s start with my favorite, the Miami Design District. Less than a mile away, you can have access to world class shopping, designers, art, and food. According to their website, they house over 170 brands, which makes it a luxury shopper’s paradise. I promise you will fall in love.
The Shops at Midtown
Next, are The Shops at Midtown, located directly across the street from Mindspace Wynwood. The shops feature American classics such as Target, Marshalls, HomeGoods, and Trader Joe’s. You can also find there boutiques and delicious restaurants for a quick bite to eat in between meetings.
Shopping in Wynwood
The last area for shopping around Mindspace Wynwood is located inside the neighborhood. Just across the street (to the south) from The Gateway, Wynwood has an eclectic range of shops from gift stores to sneakers. You can definitely find pieces that are unique and special.
Wynwood Craft Breweries
J. Wakefield Brewing
If you’re into beer and craft brew, the Wynwood neighborhood has some of the best in Miami! J. Wakefield Brewing is one of my favorite breweries for their sours and specialty brews. Each week you can find a new in-house made flavor available for purchase. We also love to keep some bottles in stock in the office for Mindspace members.
Veza Sur and Wynwood Brewing Co.
Some other well known breweries are Veza Sur and Wynwood Brewing Company. These are larger and provide for a wonderful night-out. You can find tasty bites to pair with your beers, as well as some great music.
Wynwood Nightlife
I do not think it’s possible to mention Miami without nightlife. No matter where in the city you are located, there is always something to do. But if you’re looking for something close to Mindspace Wynwood, the following are some of my favorites.
Swan
On Monday nights Swan holds a lively dinner party featuring performances and a live DJ. Swan is located in the Miami Design District, so make sure you arrive dressed to impress.
Lagniappe House
Lagniappe House is an unassuming wine bar that offers a selection of wines from all over the world to be paired with their selection of cheeses and meats, creating a beautiful charcuterie spread. The staff is well informed on every wine and can help you choose the perfect pairings. I highly recommend you to arrive early, because seats are first come, first serve. Depending on the night, you might even get to enjoy a live band performance.
Dante’s HiFi
Co-founded by Major Lazer’s one and only Walshy Fire, Dante’s HiFi is Miami’s first and only vinyl bar. A concept popular in Japan since the 1950s, such a listening bar is something everyone must experience at least once. At Dante’s HiFi you can expect to experience an eclectic mix of genres with specialty cocktails.
Miami Events
Art Basel
Art Basel is where artists, art patrons and galleries get together to celebrate and showcase modern and contemporary art. This international art fair takes place each year in Basel, Hong Kong, Paris and Miami Beach. It’s the place to meet all the art world’s big names, as well as get acquainted with promising emerging artists.
Ultra Music Festival
Just across the street from Mindspace Downtown Miami, Bayfront Park plays host to Ultra Music Festival. This electronic music festival takes place each March, with international live DJ performances.
Miami Open
Miami Open is an international tennis tournament held annually in Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. Tennis fans, it’s time to get your tickets.
