Mindspace

10 December, 2023

If you’re looking to ditch the nine to five grind and work remotely, there’s no better place to be than Miami. Boasting beautiful beaches, a fabulous nightlife and a contagious joie de vivre, the tax free haven is a popular hotspot for digital nomads. Thousands of freelancers, entrepreneurs and even corporate employees have been lured. The low cost of living, cultural diversity and vibrant energy are what define the so-called Magic City.

Despite the obvious benefits of working remotely, there are some major drawbacks when you’re working-from-home. Staring at the same four walls becomes monotonous and the lack of social interaction can zap both creativity and happiness. But fear not, in a city with endless coffee shops, museums, restaurants and other meeting points, Miami offers the perfect antidote for the home office blues.

Whether you’re looking to connect with like-minded professionals or simply want a change of scenery, grab your laptop, get out of the house and shake things up at one of these recommended spots for remote-working in Miami

A top Miami museum you can work from

The Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM)

If you’re looking for a creative boost, you’ll find inspiration at the PAMM Museum on Biscayne Boulevard in Downtown Miami. The art galleries, spectacular vista and the elaborate hanging gardens provide the perfect environment for a brainstorm or spot of creative writing. A departure from the typical high-tech environment, it’s not the ideal place for Zoom calls or team meetings. However, its architecture and design make this one of the most Instagram worthy places to work.

Best Miami coworking spaces for remote workers

As newcomers to the coworking scene in Miami, Mindspace is raising the bar for remote workers in the trendy Wynwood and Downtown neighborhoods. Combining uber-stylish office design, fabulous wellbeing amenities and unparalleled hospitality, you’ll find everything you need here to up your professional game. A popular high-tech hub for freelancers, entrepreneurs and startups, Mindspace’s community was recently described by The Miami guide as a place ‘where you can birth big ideas and form game-changing connections’. With smoothie breakfasts, professional workshops and regular happy hours, it’s the ultimate coworking environment for both networking and productivity.

Best Places to Work Remotely in Miami

Mindspace Wynwood

Located within walking distance from the iconic Wynwood Walls murals, the artistic energy at this Wynwood coworking space is palpable. Choose from a range of facilities, including private offices, boutique meeting rooms, one-on-one booths and plenty of inviting shared lounges and kitchens. You can also enjoy shared access to an outdoor terrace and penthouse rooftop deck, where you can sip your morning coffee or join one of the many sunset yoga sessions. If that isn’t enough to soothe your soul and spark your creativity, head to the on-site climbing wall to work out a sweat and reboot your workday.

Mindspace Downtown Miami

Mindspace Downtown Miami coworking is another great coworking venue with all the typical Mindspace perks, this prime location offers unobstructed views of Biscayne Bay and the Downtown Miami skyline. If you’re looking for a flex office or coworking space in Miami to impress potential customers or convince employees it’s worth coming into the office, this is it! With great connections to local transportation networks, including the Metromover light rail and major highways, it’s easy to access and the level of luxury will have you hooked in no time.

Best coffee shops to work from in Miami

There are few things that will add fuel to your workday more than a great cup of coffee, a touch of mambo and a plate of conch fritters. The Miami café scene bursts with personality and the following also offer Wi-Fi, comfortable seating and a friendly setting:

Capital One Cafés

Capital One presents an interesting concept. It’s a bank and coworking café rolled into one. There are three branches in the center of the city – situated in the Miami Beach, Brickell and Coral Gables neighborhoods. You don’t have to be a Capital One customer to enjoy their full-food menu – although customers get a 50% discount on beverages. Clean, comfortable and with regular community events oriented towards personal finance, this is the ideal environment to start working on your annual budget and financial forecasts.

Cortadito Coffee House

If a Cuban inspired breakfast and mango smoothie is the kind of grub that will get your creative juices flowing, then head to Cortadito Coffee House situated on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables. Its design is high-energy – featuring vibrant neon signs, walls painted with palm tree leaves, and bamboo swinging chairs. However, the vibe is chilled and many remote workers head here to get some serious work done.

Panther Coffee

If you’re particular about how your beans are sourced and grounded, then this is your version of coffee heaven. Founded by a Miamian duo in 2010, its reputation for both sustainability and delicious cappuccinos has led to Panther Coffee shops opening up all across Miami. There are communal tables and plenty of power outlets. We particularly love the ambience at their original flagship cafe in Wynwood, where it’s become a popular gathering spot for local artists. However, note there are sometimes long queues, but it’s worth the wait for the best caffeine fix in town.

Grown

If you’re a foodie, then we recommend one of the city’s three Grown locations at South Miami, South Beach and the Hard Rock Stadium. Its organic farm-to-table menu boasts a range of delicious salads, soups and a selection of vegan delights. If it’s true that nutritious food has an impact on cognitive performance, then you’ll be nailing it at Grown.

Vice City Bean

With free Wi-Fi, excellent coffee and delicious pastries that make the perfect laptop companion, Vice City Bean is another popular choice for remote workers. Our favorite branch lies between Brickell and Midtown, and we are obsessed with their Miel latte with oat milk and empanadas.

Hotel lobbies perfect for remote work

1 Hotel

At the 1 Hotel you’ll find one of the most spacious and beautiful lobbies to work in around South Miami. Ease the pain of your fifth Zoom call for the day by sipping champagne and then spoil yourself to a quick dip in the rooftop pool after work. Bonus: the interiors and materials are all eco-friendly. Bear in mind the live bands playing in the lobby from Thursday through to Saturday can be a little distracting.

The Standard

If you’re struggling to juggle work deadlines with parenting small children, then the bohemian style lobby at The Standard Hotel offers the perfect escapism. As an adult-only hotel that attracts a cool crowd, you won’t find any children running around here and the zen atmosphere is certainly conducive to clearing your inbox. Take a break from the stresses of your workday by visiting the meditation garden outside or enjoy a quick nap in one of their daybeds. What are you waiting for? Go book that babysitter!

Best Miami libraries to work from

Miami Beach Regional Library and the Main Miami Dade Library

If you’re suffering from writer’s block, need to conduct research or simply want some uninterrupted time to power through your next project, try seeking knowledge or inspiration up in the stacks. The newly renovated public library at Miami Beach offers a quiet environment with free Wi-Fi. Also check out the main Miami Dade Library in West Kendall, that ‘provides enterprising customers with a place to conduct business, telecommute and grow as entrepreneurs.’

Summary

In a city bursting with urban vitality and year-round sunshine, it’s no wonder that people consider Miami as one of the happiest places to live and work. If you are part of the growing trend of people who have the luxury to work remotely, then Miami’s plethora of coworking spaces, delightful coffee shops and hotel lobbies will leave you spoiled for choice. Whether you’re a high-tech entrepreneur, budding artist or corporate giant looking to infuse some energy and social interaction into the workday, give the above list of remote working spots a try.

If you don’t like to queue for your coffee or worry about not finding a seat near a power outlet, consider exploring the coworking experience at Mindspace. With a range of discounted day passes for stylish desk spaces, meeting rooms and team suites at our Wynwood coworking and Downtown Miami coworking spaces, you and your team will get a taste of how wellbeing and hospitality can transform your productivity. The only downside is that you’ll never want to work from home again.
