Mindspace signs two new locations in Berlin, and appoints new VP of Real Estate

• Mindspace will occupy two new locations in Berlin taking up 11,500 sqm in total; 7,000 sqm space in FÜRST and 4,500 sqm on Zimmerstraße
• Two new locations increase Mindspace’s portfolio in Germany to a total of 10, of which five in Berlin
• Openings to support the high demand Mindspace is currently experiencing for its services globally and, specifically, in Germany that has a 95% occupancy rate
• In November 2021, Mindspace raised €64 million (of equity capital) to further support its growth plans
• Mindspace appoints new VP of Real Estate and Projects Ana Nekhamkin 
• Ana will be contributing to the Company’s growth including building out the real estate team, signing new properties and delivering projects.

February 28, 2022 – Mindspace, the global flexible office provider, will occupy 7,000 square meters of office space, a lobby and several roof terraces in Berlin’s FÜRST. The landlord for the project is the FÜRST Projektgesellschaft. The premises are part of the first construction phase of the district development, which was already completed in October 2020 on Berlin’s well-known Kurfürstendamm, or as the locals call it Ku’damm, with a total of 19,000 square meters of commercial space and an additional parking garage with more than 500 parking spaces. In addition, Mindspace also announces the appointment of its new global VP of Real Estate and Projects, Ana Nekhamkin. 

Flexible office space in a high demand location

The FÜRST Projektgesellschaft is developing a site of 20,000 square meters in the prime Kurfürstendamm location in an area that extends over 97,000 square meters of commercial rental space for retail, office, lifestyle and art. Based on the design of the architectural firm Kleihues + Kleihues, in addition to the revitalization of an entire block, a new public square will be created for Berlin’s City West. 

With Ku’damm being one of the most important shopping streets in Germany, Mindspace secures yet another flex office of over 7,000 square meters in a AAA Berlin location. As with its other locations, Mindspace members will be able to enjoy the numerous community activities, exclusive benefits and a global membership, in addition to the many amenities such as meeting rooms, lounge areas, communal kitchens, phone booths, mail services and a reception.

“The FÜRST combines the usage of office, hotel, restaurant, retail, culture, entertainment, fitness and childcare with excellent accessibility. A total of around 3,500 people will be able to work there. A new platform is being created where people can work and interact together creatively – and in one of the best locations in the whole of Berlin,” adds Ostermann. 

On the road to global expansion

Besides FÜRST, Mindspace is opening a second new location in Berlin on Zimmerstraße, which marks the 10th German location for  the company. A vibrant capital city, Berlin stands for “New Work in action”. The two new locations in Kurfürstendamm and Zimmerstraße are scheduled to open starting July 2022 and both will be close in proximity to the three existing Mindspace offices on Berlin’s Friedrichstraße, Skalitzer Straße and Krausenstraße. 

The new Mindspace Zimmerstraße can be found at the historic border of the Berlin Wall and covers 4,500 square meters on eight floors. It will be equipped with a high technical standard and will showcase the typical Mindspace boutique interior, which is characterized by the increased use of natural materials such as marble and wood, as well as terrazzo flooring in different patterns.

Mindspace currently operates 32 locations in 17 cities, and following their recent funding of $72 million of equity capital, the company is following through on its promise to continue expanding its proven offerings to meet the high demand. A significant part of the expansion is planned for Germany, and specifically Berlin as it’s a hub for startups, tech companies and creatives. At the head of the global expansion efforts will be Ana Nekhamkin, the new VP of Real Estate and Projects.

Ana Nekhamkin has robust experience in building and growing businesses, including acquiring, financing and managing real estate. She has been involved in international projects in key markets in the US, Europe and the Middle East. In her most recent role prior to joining Mindspace, she was responsible for Sonder’s (NASDAQ:SOND) real estate expansion in EMEA and coordinating transactions for the development of hotels and serviced apartments across the UK and Europe. At Mindspace, Ana will be responsible for contributing to the company’s growth, including building out the real estate team, signing new properties, and delivering projects.
