Herzliya, December 10th, 2017 – Mindspace, a rapidly-growing global provider of beautiful and inspiring coworking spaces, and Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) announced today that they have signed one of the largest membership deals to date in the coworking industry. Microsoft will take 2 floors and over 3,100 sqm (33,000 sq ft) of Mindspace’s new location in Herzliya, and move 500 of its employees to the new coworking space for three years. Mindspace will provide Microsoft and its employees with community services and benefits in the new space.
Microsoft’s activity in the Israeli market has been ripe on the expansion path. Over the last 3 years alone, Microsoft acquired 4 Israeli startups – Adallom, Secure Islands Technologies, Hexadite, and Cloudyn – resulting in quick growth of its employee base in the country. To accommodate this growth, Microsoft is now building its new campus in Herzliya, which is expected to launch by 2020. The three year deal with Mindspace gives Microsoft the room to place its growing workforce and expand dynamically while the new campus is being built.
For Mindspace, the Enterprise deal with Microsoft marks a landmark achievement and its largest deal to date with a single enterprise customer. Founded 3 years ago, Mindspace was early to accommodate enterprises in its coworking mix, with large brands such as Barclays Bank, Samsung, SAP, Twitter, Lufthansa, Techstars Accelerator, Schwan-Stabilo, Agoda, and Cheetah Mobile, locating their innovative teams and sometime hundred s of employees at Mindspace’s locations around the world.
“This partnership with Microsoft is another expression of the change the coworking industry is going through. There is a shift from startups and entrepreneurs as early adopters to an all-inclusive environment that accommodates also enterprises and businesses of all sizes,” says Dan Zakai, Co-founder and CEO of Mindspace. “We are grateful for this vote of confidence by Microsoft and privileged to welcome its teams at Mindspace. They will experience the future of work at our new and inspiring workplace in Herzliya.”
“Microsoft is growing strongly in Israel and around the world,” says Yoram Yaacovi, General Manager, Microsoft Israel R&D Center. “We looked at several coworking options by global providers and found Mindspace to be the best fit with our needs and high standards, providing a productive environment and an excellent service at the best locations. It is the largest team that we have ever placed at a coworking space worldwide, and we’re delighted to become Mindspace members for the years to come.”
